One of the recent trends on social media refers to racists attacks on an Indian-origin businessman Sriram Krishnan. The event took place after, US President-elect President Donald Trump named Krishnan as Senior White House Policy Advisor on Artificial Intelligence.
Racist Post Sparks Outrage
This controversy started when an X user described a racism post with Sriram Krishnan. The post comprised two photos, one of Krishnan and the other AI-generated which completely swapped Krishnan’s face with butter chicken, an Indian cuisine dish. The user wrote the caption as “This is how Sriram Krishnan would look like if he was butter chicken.”
Responses to the Post
These statements have been criticized for their sexists stereotyping and they elicited much hatred towards the post it was made on. The troll was responded immediately by Jason, who is an investor, ‘These racist attacks are disgusting.’ He also expressed his appreciation to Krishnan,isz saying, “But Sriram Krishnan is awesome, for the record.”
Other users also complained and fumed. They said such things as the post demonstrated ‘gross behavior’ and most of them did not for a joke. None of them seemed funny to me as I mentioned: “I would say it was just a joke,” one user posted. Another said, “So disgusting It was added, “So shameful.”
